America with George * Atwood Lake, Ohio * Canal Tavern & Genealogy

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

For the next few weeks I am going to be using this space to communicate with my kids,
please excuse the change of tone and content. George is Jude's stuffed dragon.

After Grandma Dodge's service we drove to The Atwood Lake Resort. The whole Weegar family was staying there for cousin Amy's wedding. Before Grammy was a Fitzgerald, she was a Weegar... and let me tell you, they are a lot of FUN! We got unpacked and then went to dinner at the Canal Tavern in a town called Zoar (isn't that a funny name for a town). Do you know what a canal is? This is a quick video about the Ohio & Erie Canal. At dinner mom got to spend some time hanging out with Arleigh... because dinner at restaurants isn't very fun for toddlers... and mom loves to walk around and take pictures. There is a picture of Arleigh on a bridge over the canal.

After dinner we went to Uncle Ken and Aunt Sue's house. It is a really interesting house with a cool history. Aunt Sue LOVES history... in particular, genealogy. Do you know what genealogy is? These kids don't know either. It is the history of your family. Aunt Sue has a whole room full of old pictures of people in the Weegar family. Cousin Scott calls it her "dead person room". Aunt Sue has interesting stories about all the people in the pictures and she loves talking about it.

I also got to have a quick ride on the yellow doe-eyed rocking horse that mom played with when she was little.
