America with George * Los Angeles, California * Fun with a new friend

Saturday, June 21, 2014

For the next few weeks I am going to be using this space to communicate with my kids - excuse the change of tone and content. George is Jude's stuffed dragon.

Hey guys! It's me... George. I made it to Los Angeles, California. Click here to see where I am on the map (you can use the + and - signs at the bottom right corner to zoom in and out). You can also watch this video to learn a little bit more about the city. We were only here for one night and didn't have time to see all the things in this video.

Aunt Maggie's friend Lindsey was the COOLEST tour guide ever. She picked us up at the hotel and had a whole day of super fun things planned for us. Mom really enjoyed her company and found her to be an immediate friend... someone she wished she could have spent a lot more time getting to know.

Here are a few of the things we did -

Kids - any time you see pink writing, you can click on it and learn more

* selfie in the car (a "selfie" is a cheezy picture of your self)
* coffee at Intelligentsia
* window shopping on Abbot Kinny Blvd. I like DANGER - sitting on a cactus and making friends with wolves.
* fun at the Venice Beach skate park.
* rode bikes from Venice Beach to the San Monica Pier on the
Marvin Braude Bike Trail (also know as the South Bay bike trail).
* Los Angeles traffic... not awesome.
* SUCH GOOD FOOD at an Italian restaurant called Osteria La Buca. Homemade pasta - yum, yum, yum!
* Not kidding... best ice cream I have ever eaten at Carmela

Dear Lindsey - Thank you for a great tour of Los Angeles. You are a very cool person. You are also very kind and funny... and we like you a lot. Please come to New Zealand to visit us.
- Love George (and Liz)
